lion vs gorilla (LVG) creates big, engaging, and spirited one-night-only art shows conceptualized as experiments. inspired by the happenings of the 1960’s, the fluxus movement, and dada aesthetics, LVG looks to experiment with the ways in which we experience and share art. we believe that art should be rowdy, that people should fight for it, and that viewing should never be passive. we see artists and viewers as collaborators in an aesthetic experience. LVG was founded in chicago in 2011 by jimmy bulosan and heather phillips. jimmy and heather do not define LVG’s work as curatorial in nature but instead see their role as co-creators and peers in public experiments between artists and audiences.
